INTERN TRAINING PROGRAM
As part of our commitment to increase the number of competent child clinicians in our community, the Glen Roberts Child Study Center provides extensive training for graduate students in mental health disciplines. Graduate and post-doctoral supervised internships are available in our center. These internships are highly competitive and draw applicants from graduate schools throughout Southern California and the entire country. Recent interns have come from Alliant University/California School of Professional Psychology, California State University - Los Angeles , California State University - Northridge, Fuller Theological Seminary Graduate School of Psychology, Pacific Oaks College and Phillips Graduate Institute.

As part of our training program, our professional staff is available to consult and provide in-service training in specialized areas of child treatment to students. Didactic and interactive seminars are offered weekly, with subjects such as Play Therapy, Assessment with Children, Child Abuse Assessment and Treatment, Parenting Skills, Multicultural Mental Health, Adolescents in Treatment, Child Development.to name only a few.

This is a demanding program. A typical week for a Trainee/Intern would be a caseload of 8 hours of direct service (which could include individual/family therapy, group therapy and collateral therapy), 2-3 hours of individual and group supervision, 2-3 hours of seminars/training. In addition, students can expect to spend another hour on case management and another hour completing paperwork. Students will also conduct, with another intern, a 12-week parenting class.
