This program is designed to offer mental health services within the context of a school campus. We want to aid in increasing student academic success by identifying high-risk students in need of mental health services, treating students with emotional problems through psychotherapy, and assisting teachers and administrators in assessing for and responding to mental health issues in students. Referrals to the program come from parents, district administrators, teachers, school counselors, and other school personnel.

Many students in distress never access the services they need. Many factors may interfere with a student's ability to access treatment such as the stigma of going to a "mental health center," lack of transportation or parental support, etc. Providing mental health services directly on campus helps avoid many of these roadblocks. Mental health professionals assist teachers and counselors in identifying and assessing high-risk students and guiding them through the referral process. Students and parents can feel more comfortable accessing mental health services in a familiar surrounding. Students are treated on campus during school hours.  Treatment on campus eliminates transportation and scheduling issues.

We are currently on thirteen campuses in the Glendale and Alhambra Unified School Districts.  In addition, we have a more traditional after-school clinic at Wilson Middle School where parents bring their children in the late afternoons and evenings.
